Firefighters and police officers were called to a vehicle fire at the Mapco convenience store at 9101 Lee Highway around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Captain Andrew Waters with the Fire Investigation Division said a customer got into an argument with the store clerk, and decided to set the clerk's car on fire in the store's parking lot.
An eyewitness saw the man attempting to start the fire and called 911.

Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Dennis Thomason responded to the scene and put the fire out with a portable fire extinguisher. No injuries were reported and Captain Waters said the fire was put out before it could cause significant damage to the vehicle.

Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department also responded and apprehended the suspect a short distance away. Captain Waters identified the suspect as Christopher Rozema, 36.

Captain Waters said Rozema was charged with setting fire to personal property and public intoxication. He was then transported to the county jail for booking.
