Travis Harrison knocked in Leonardo Reginatto on a RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Lookouts the 6-5 win over the Tennessee Smokies. The extra-inning contest clocked in at 4:12 which is the team's longest of the season.
With the game deadlocked at five, Reginatto drew a one-out walk and scooted over to second on a wild pitch.
After a groundout to the right side moved him to third, Harrison came through. Following five foul balls, the former first-round pick laced a liner into left field that found a patch of grass. Reginatto scored from third to give the Lookouts the win
The Smokies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second on Friday night after a RBI single by Stephen Bruno.
Chattanooga answered in the third to take a 4-1 edge with a two-out grand slam off the bat of Daniel Palka, his seventh of the season.
Tennessee found themselves down, but not out as they scored one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to knot the game up at four.
The Lookouts seized back the lead in the bottom of that inning on Harrison RBI ground out. The game remained 5-4 for two innings due to Jake Reed's strong outing. The righty only allowed one hit while striking out four batters.
In the eighth the Smokies scored again to even the score at five runs.
With the score tied the Lookouts' bullpen took over. Trever Hildenberger came on in the ninth and pitched one shutout inning to lower his ERA to 1.29 on the year.
Luke Westphal came in and struck out five Smokies in just two innings. The team's lock-down bullpen paved the way for Harrison's heroics in the 11th.
Zack Granite accrued a game-high four hits and stole three bases for the Lookouts. Granite now has 21 stolen bases this season. Mitch Garver picked up three hits in the victory.
Saturday is game four of the series and Salute to Heroes Night at AT&T Field. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
RHP Aaron Slegers (2-4, 4.21 ERA) is scheduled to get the start for Chattanooga in Satuday's contest.
