First Things First presents Success Ready , a two-day networking event for high school aged teens who are looking for summer employment and beyond.
“We’re in the high schools on a regular basis teaching relationship skills,” said Julie Baumgardner, president and CEO of First Things First. “We saw the need for a type of networking and career prep event for teens, so we’re making it happen.”
On June 2 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., teens will learn the basics of how to apply for a job. They’ll see examples of what to wear for an interview, how to make a good first impression, how to write a resume, avoid drama and conflict in the workplace and gain lifelong skills that will help them communicate clearly and effectively. Lunch will also beprovided.
The following day, June 3, will feature a job fair and networking event from 9 a.m.-noon with employers who are ready and willing to hire. Potential employers include: Ruby Falls, Rock City, KMart, Zaxby’s, Home Depot and many more.
Success Ready will take place at New Covenant Fellowship on North Moore Road. Although this is a free event, registration is required to attend. Visit FirstThings.org to register for Success Ready today, or call the First Things First office at 423-267-5383.
