Travis Close Family Asks $2 Million In Damages For Trauma During Wreck That Killed 6 People

The family of Signal Mountain realtor Travis Close is asking $2 million for trauma during a wreck that killed six people on I-75 near the Ooltewah exit.

The suit was filed in Circuit Court against Cool Runnings Express, a Kentucky trucking firm, and driver Benjamin Brewer. Other similar lawsuits were filed in Federal Court.

Brewer is facing six vehicular homicide chargesl in Hamilton County Criminal Court.

In the incident on June 25, 2015, the truck rammed into a line of stalled vehicles. The suit says the Close family was in a Toyota Tundra that was the eighth vehicle struck.

In the vehicle were Mr. and Mrs. Close and their two minor children.

The suit says, "The Close family was tossed about inside the vehicle. The entire crash was very traumatic."

It says the family members suffered physical injuries and mental anguish.

The suit, filed by attorneys Danny R. Ellis and Joshua R. Ward, asks $500,000 for each of the family members.
