Dr. Robert A. Peterson, 49, of Signal Mountain, died at his residence on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

Robert was born in Murfreesboro, on Nov. 29, 1966. In 1985, he graduated from Dupont High School in Old Hickory, TN. He graduated MTSU in 1989 and then from UT Health Science Center College of Medicine in 1993. From 1993 to 1996, he served his residency in internal medicine at UNC Chapel Hill. On April 16, 1994, he married the love of his life, Amy Aldridge. In 1996 he moved to Chattanooga, where he practiced at the Diagnostic Center for 20 years and considered his patients as his second family. Robert enjoyed golfing and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Signal Mountain Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Peterson Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Peterson and daughters, Hannah and Stephanie Peterson, all of Signal Mountain; parents, Bedford Forrest Peterson Jr. and Agnes Faye (Ford) Peterson; brother, Bedford Forrest Peterson III and wife Joni of Alpharetta, GA; brother, Richard Peterson of Nashville; maternal grandmother, Jewel Davis; In-laws, James and Becky Aldridge; sister-in-law, Lisa Newman and husband Rusty; nieces and nephews, Bedford Forrest Peterson IV, Sydni Peterson, Brent Peterson, Rachel Newman, Mark Newman and wife Lauren, and  Zachary Newman; and great-niece, Ava Newman.

The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, at Signal Mountain Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at the church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steven Wright officiating.

Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
