Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga’s 25th Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event was held at the Holiday Bowl in Hixson. With over 60 teams participating in two sessions throughout the day, the event was a great success with close to $70,000 raised to date.

Officials said, "Congratulations to McCallie’s Team, McCallie Blue, for the overall highest score, earning them the cash prize of $500. They very generously donated all of the money back to Big Brothers Big Sisters."

Bowl for Kids’ Sake would not be possible without the active involvement, participation and fundraising by the employees of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. Another special thank you to the employees of EMJ Corporation who were instrumental in making the event a success.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake ensures more Bigs and Littles will be matched, more friendships will be made, and more outlooks on life will be improved. This year, four National Pan-Hellenic Council teams competed in the ‘Greek Bowl’ including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated.  Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity had the highest Greek score and was awarded a decorated bowling pin trophy to proudly display.

In addition, there was a ‘Media Bowl’ that included teams from all three local television stations, WRCB TV 3, WTVC NewsChannel 9, and WDEF News 12.  With a close score, Channel 12 proudly took the win over the other two stations.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Chattanooga changes the way vulnerable children see the world and how they interact with it. Its programs are proven to reduce a child’s risk of dropping out of school, becoming violent, and falling victim to other negative cycles.
