J. C. Hackney, 84, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016 in a local hospital.
J.C. was born on Dec. 22, 1931 to the late Len & Stella Hackney.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United State Army after faithfully serving his country during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal and a Bronze Star for his service. J.C. worked for over 45 years as a mechanic many of those years owning his own auto repair garage.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Sarah L. Hackney.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 38 years, Shirley Hudgins Hackney; one brother-in-law, Lester Hudgins (Donna); two sisters-in-law, Ruby Givens and Margaret Thompson; several special nieces and nephews; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, May 1 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland, TN with Reverend Mark Cameron officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. service time in the funeral home parlor.
Interment will take place on Monday, May 2 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with Military Honors.
