Drivers Education Program Offers Spring Break Course

  • Friday, February 5, 2016

The Spring 2016 Drivers Education course will be offered March 28, 29, 30 and 31 at the Public Library Downtown, 1001 Broad St., not at Northgate Mall.

The class will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-4:45 p.m. each of those four days.

In Spring of 2015, the Tennessee State Legislature made legislative changes to restrict the use of traffic cameras. Additionally, those recent changes resulted in an increase in enrollment fees for Chattanooga’s Drivers Education Program. In response, the city of Chattanooga continues to extend a discount to ensure all families have access to drivers education at an affordable price.

Families whose household income is within the limits of the eligibility chart below, will pay an enrollment fee of $50.  Families whose household income exceeds those limits will pay an enrollment fee of $200.

Eligibility for the $50 enrollment fee includes:

Households receiving benefits from WIC, TN SNAP or Families First
Foster children that are under the legal responsibility of a foster care agency or court
Students who meet the definition of homeless, runaway, or migrant
Households whose income qualifies for free or reduced price meals as determined within the limits on the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines (see chart below)
