Hazel Jeanette Biggers Whitfield, 99, of Dalton, Georgia, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at her daughter’s home.
Hazel was born in Fish Creek, GA on May 25, 1916 to the late Charles Edward and Mary Hammond Biggers; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Emmett McDuffie Whitfield; son, Emmett "Sherrill" Whitfield; and great-grandchild, Nick Patrick.
Hazel had a zest for living; she held her family and dear friends close to her heart. Her joy came from her Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Whitfield of Dalton; four grandchildren, Zane Lowery, Tim Whitfield, Traci Bramblett and Terri Johnston; eight great-grandchildren, Faith, Autumn, Ashlyn, Patrick, Joshua, Katie, Jack and Sarah; and three great-great-grandchildren, Owen, Liam, and Ellis.
The family would like to give special thanks for the loving care and support from Leidy Gonzalez, Juan Nava, Beth and Todd Looper and Heart lite Hospice.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 in the Chapel of the Dalton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Atrium of the Church on Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m.
