Hurst, Lloyd Ronald "Ron" (Cleveland)

Lloyd Ronald “Ron” Hurst, 74, of Cleveland, Tennessee, died on Friday, February 12, 2016 while surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch and Margaret Vess Hurst; brothers, Fred Hurst and Billy Ray Hurst; and sisters, Mary Frances Hurst and Robin Hurst.

He received his B.S. degree from Lee University and his M.S. degree from the University of Tennessee. During his professional career he served as a teacher at Bradley Central High School and later as a counselor for the Tennessee Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Following his disability retirement he worked as a volunteer tax preparation specialist for local groups.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Carolyn “Beth” Newport Hurst; daughter Christa Hurst Ondrovich and her husband Rev. Chris Ondrovich; grandchildren, Jaden and Alyssa Ondrovich all of Minot, ND; and siblings, Jennie Mae Hurst of Cleveland, Katherine Ownby, Gladys West, Carolyn (Raymond) Tinsley all of Knoxville, Moquita (Raymond) McCranie of Chatsworth, Helen Towe of Cinncinnati, Betty (Lynn) Murphy of Dalton, Terry (Tami) Hurst of Knoxville, Marty (Lisa) Hurst of Knoxville and Ginger Long of Knoxville.

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Westmore Church of God with Rev. Wendell Smith, Dr. Dan Black and Rev. Raymond McCranie officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Jon Adams, Chris Scoggins, Terry Hurst, Ben Hurst, Brad Hurst and David McCranie serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Bob Taylor, Dr. Jerome Boone, Vern Goodman, Dr. Ollie Lee and Marty Hurst.

The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services North Ocoee St. Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Senior Adult Ministry of Westmore Church of God and or the National Hemophilia Foundation at www.hemophilia.org
