Race fan favorite around the Tennessee/Georgia area's, Jeff Smith, 37 was cleared on Friday from his medical team of doctors, to climb back into his race cars after a lengthy six month ordeal that left the Villanow, Ga. racer sidelined.

Sustaining fractured vertebrae in his neck and back, from a roll over crash at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tn. during a Chevrolet Performance 525 series event in August, Smith had to undergo surgery that left him recovering with a halo device.

Flash forward to the beginning of the 2016 season and Jeff, his wife Samantha and the Jeff Smith Racing team are about ready to race.

Mention of joining Dirt Track World Champion Marshall Green's Capital Racecars stable of chassis is circulating the area insiders. Smith says his returning schedule will be released soon.
