Bill Crumley, 74, of Benton, Tennessee, died on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Bill was born July 12, 1941 to the late Andrew & Blanche “Hennie” Duggan Crumley.   Bill graduated from Polk County High School in 1959.  He was a man of many talents and jack-of-all-trades.  He was the owner/operator of the Mobil Service Station in Benton in the mid-70‘s and everyone knew they could stop in for a smoke and smile.  He graduated from Donaldson Police Academy in 1979. Bill took great pride in serving his community and worked for the Benton City Police Department for 10 years during which he served as Chief of Police.  He was the owner of Crumley’s Roofing until his retirement.Bill was a man of few words, but he had the ability to command a room.  He left a lasting impression on those that had the pleasure of meeting hm.  He wasn’t much for hobbies; however, enjoyed the occasional fishing trip and tinkering with cars.  In his later years, Bill really enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Blanche (Hennie) Duggan Crumley; son, Billy (Billy Boy) Ray Crumley, Jr.; grandparents, Abe & Essie Duggan; and daughter-in-law, Patty (Calhoun) Duggan.   

He is survived by the love of his life and mother of his children, Linda; sons, Tony (Willa Dean) Duggan of Benton, Donald “Tater” Crumley of Etowah; daughter, Kathy (Mike) Johnson of Cleveland; sister, Helen Rose of Benton; grandchildren, Cindy, Jennifer, Justin, Kristy, Nikki, Dustin, Matt and Tyler; great-grandchildren; Erica, Kaidon, Bryce, Brayden, Peyton, Avery, Easton and McCoy; nephew, Scott Rose; and special aunt, Pauline McFarland.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb, 14 at Higgins Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack Bryant officiating.  Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Serving as pallbearers are Scott Rose, Whitney Webb, Tony Cook, Steve Hale, Randy Killian, Jeff Calhoun and Danny Dockery.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 14 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
