Three Erlanger Executives Earn Top Management Credentials

  • Friday, February 12, 2016

Three Erlanger Health System executives have earned top management credentials from the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation’s foremost professional society for healthcare leaders. J. Britton Tabor, Erlanger Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; Donald J. Mueller, Erlanger Vice President and CEO of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger; and Tanner J. Goodrich, Erlanger Vice President of Operations & CEO of the North Georgia Market, recently earned Fellow status with ACHE.

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development.

Only 9,100 healthcare executives hold this distinction, according to the ACHE. To obtain fellow status, candidates must pass a comprehensive examination, meet academic and experiential criteria, earn continuing education credits, and demonstrate professional and community involvement. ACHE fellows must undergo recertification every three years. Tabor, Mueller and Goodrich are now privileged to use the FACHE credential, which signifies board certification in healthcare management and ACHE Fellow status.

J. Britton Tabor, Erlanger Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, is a Certified Public Accountant who has been with Erlanger for 29 years. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennesseeand a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is a member of several regional, state and national healthcare and accounting organizations and has served as board member of several local and state organizations.

Donald J. Mueller, Erlanger Vice President and CEO of Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, came to Erlanger in 2015 from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he served as Vice President of Operations and Executive Director of the MarcusAutism Center. For 15 years, he provided strategic direction for the human, fiscal, and capital resources for both clinical and nonclinical areas of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Mr. Mueller has worked in health care since graduating from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He received a Master of Business Administration from Loyola College in Maryland.

Tanner J. Goodrich, Erlanger Vice President of Operations and CEO of the North Georgia Market, joined Erlanger in June 2013 as Administrator of Oncology Services after serving in the same role at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He also was the Manager of Operations for the Cancer Center and Brain and Spine Institute at Methodist University Hospital inMemphis, the major teaching campus of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Mr. Goodrich obtained his Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Memphis. He has a passion for education and improving the health of our children through youth sports programs.

“We are extremely proud of Britt, Don, and Tanner, and their achievement of obtaining Fellow status in such a prestigious society,” said Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, Erlanger President & CEO. “They truly represent the highest standards of healthcare leadership, and we at Erlanger are fortunate to have them on our team of professionals.” Mr. Spiegel serves on the Council of Regents for ACHE, representing Tennessee in District Four.
