Andy Mineo
Christian TV and music video director, hip hop artist, and producer Andy Mineo will perform at Lee University’s next U-Church concert on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.
A Syracuse native, Mr. Mineo moved to New York City and enrolled in the music program at The City College of New York. During his time at CCNY, he discovered his style and sound. According to Mr. Mineo, he found communities of other people who were urban and hip-hop, yet also Christian. By the time Mr. Mineo graduated, he had landed a full recording contract with Reach Records.
“This concert is over two years in the making,” said U-Church director Josh York. “We have tried and tried again to bring Andy to U-Church but our schedules never seemed to match up until now. Lee students have shown a lot of interest in his music over the years, and I’m so pleased that they now have the opportunity to see him live as part of the U-Church concert series. It’s very exciting to see this show finally come together.”
Mr. Mineo’s success includes 14 singles, 15 guest appearances, one compilation album, two mixtapes, and one debut album, “Heroes for Sale.” Mr. Mineo followed up with an EP album “Neverland” and released his most recent album in 2015 called “Uncomfortable.”
“At the end of the day, I want to sit at the table of hip-hop, be respected for my artistry, and have an opportunity to bring what I believe to the mix like everyone else,” said Mr. Mineo.
U-Church events will continue on Sunday, March 20, with a student-led “Come to the Table: An Evening of Worship” and Lecrae on Saturday, April 9.
