Police Blotter: Officers Deal With Trampoline Against House, Poison Ivy, Slow Bicyclists

A woman on Tulip Avenue phoned police to say that a large trampoline had been blown against her house.

She said it came from the residence of a nearby neighbor on Moss Street. The neighbor was not home.

An officer said the trampoline was too large for him to move. He tied it down for the night until the neighbor could retrieve it.

A manager at the Walmart in Brainerd said Brandy Vandergriff was seen selecting and concealing merchandise.

Ms. Vandergriff was earlier banned from all Walmarts.

On this occasion, she was found with $7 in goods.

She was charged with theft of property under $500 and criminal trespass.

A report was filed relating to Officer Bradley getting a tree off Greenwood Road.

He said, in doing so, he came into contact with poison ivy.

He said the poison ivy affected both his hands and his face by the next day.

Danny Hughes said he was traveling south on Suck Creek Road when he came up on four bicyclists.

He said they were going 5 mph and blocking the entire lane.

He said such cyclists were going to cause a wreck.

Tyler Peters said he lost his cellphone during a visit to the Chattanooga Zoo.

He said through GPS it could be traced to a residence on Bishop Drive.

The resident, Tania Mize, said she did have the phone. She said it was found at the zoo and she did not know the owner.

After it was returned, the owner said the sim card was missing.

Police were advised that two black females stole a large assortment of items from the Dollar General on E. 23rd Street.

Store personnel said the women filled their purses and other containers, then ran out the door. They got some $200 in items.

They left in a Dodge Charger. Store personnel were able to read the tag.

It came back to April Austin, police said.

Store employees were shown a driver's license photo of Ms. Austin, and they identified her as one of the thieves. They said they knew her by name.

Warrants were taken against Ms. Austin.
