Ruben Williams, A Validated Gang Member, Shot Tuesday Afternoon

Ruben Williams, 20, a validated gang member, was shot on Tuesday.

Officers with the Chattanooga Police Department were called to a local hospital after Williams showed up with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Williams told investigators he walking down the street when he was shot, and that he took a cab to the hospital. His injury is considered non-life threatening.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hoodie. No other details were provided.

Williams gave multiple locations where the shooting occurred. CPD officers were unable to locate a crime scene.

The Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau continues to investigate this incident.
