UTC Hoops: UTC vs. Marshall and Toys for Tots Tonight

Tonight is important as the UTC men’s basketball team hosts old rival Marshall at 7 p.m at McKenzie

Come ready to watch exciting, fast-paced hoops … a track meet in tennis shoes.

The Mocs are 6-2, while the high-scoring Thundering Herd is 5-2.

Marshall averages 83 points a game and relies heavily on the 3-point shot (66 of 188), while the Mocs will look to minimize Marshall’s shots beyond the arc and have held the last three opponents to under 60 points a game.

It’s also an important evening for the folks at Toys for Tots … they desperately need your help.

So bring a friend (or maybe two) and a gift (or maybe two) for a kid and buy one ticket and get one free.

What better way to spend a Tuesday night than cheer on the Mocs and help the kids in this area.

The Mocs are good - really good ... and have earned your support and over the years the folks who run this charity have earned your trust.

If tonight is your first visit to McKenzie this fall you are in for a treat.

Coach Matt McCall has assembled a team that plays tough, hard-nosed in your face, in your grille defense, can get out and run and score and work as one unit.

A team (6-2 this season and 35-5 over two seasons) which has several interchangeable parts – two 6-10 guys who can rebound and score, a handful of guards who give the opponents fits and a couple of wing players who can do most anything.

The backcourt is the law firm of Pryor, Burroughs-Cook, Dixon and Chatman along with Tuoyo and London on the boards and Mclain and Jones who can beat you inside and out.

A team which should play in front of 3,400 cheering fans (or more) every night – and especially tonight.

Marshall’s back in town and Toys for Tots needs your help.

So grab the kids and a quick meal on the way …, bring a couple of gifts … and support a bunch of young student-athletes who so richly deserve it and help a cause so important

Justin Tuoyo jumps center at 7 p.m.  Be there and cheer.  Chattanooga Strong.
