Harper, Martha Jane

Martha Jane Harper, 72, died on December 4, 2016.  She lived in Chattanooga since the 1980's.  Jane was born in Atlanta, Georgia.  She attended Emory University and LaGrange College, and graduated from Georgia State University.  She later received her Masters of Remedial Reading degree from the University of Georgia. She continued to do volunteer work, tutoring and reading to children in after school programs.

For many years, Jane relished participating at Second Presbyterian Church and singing in the choir. She also took inspiration from being part of the community at White Oak Baptist Church.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Julian Felder of Atlanta.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Harper from Silver Spring, MD.  and her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Don Dutton from Lookout Mountain, Georgia, along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 11:00-12:30 at Second Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga.  The memorial service will follow at the church at 12:30.

Memorial contributions may be made to World Vision.  Jane had a passion for supporting children.
