Help The Signal Mountain Robertson Police And Fire Christmas Fund

  • Saturday, December 3, 2016

Over the last year and a half, there have been terrorist attacks on two Chattanooga military facilities, multiple shootings, a horrific bus accident, and out of control wildfires. During these moments, police, fire, and emergency personnel, typically the first responders, courageously run towards these tragedies to save, protect, and defend the people impacted.

In the last year, Signal Mountain was named “the No. 1 place to live in Tennessee,” “the second safest city in Tennessee,” “the 15th best suburb in America,” and “the third most successful city in the state.” While the temptation may be to boast of how fortunate we are to live in this great community, hopefully our response is one of thanksgiving instead.

I believe one of the key reasons our community keeps showing up on these lists is due to the commitment of our police and fire officers, men and women who are also husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers.

Over 45 years ago, my grandfather, Silas M. Robertson, Jr., started the Signal Mountain Police and Fire Christmas Fund. After his passing in 2004 and in light of his spirit of giving and love for our community, we named the fund the S. M. Robertson Police & Fire Christmas Fund. This is a time for the citizens of Signal Mountain to express our thanks by contributing to a Christmas Fund, which is divided among the police and fire officers on Christmas Eve.

Please join me in showing our overwhelming support for these men and women. As Christmas is a time to rejoice with family and friends and a time to thank God for our many blessings, please consider making a contribution as part of your year-end giving. No gift is too small or too large ($10, $25, $100, $500, or more).

You can put your contribution in a box located at the Police Station or mail a check, payable to the S. M. Robertson Police & Fire Christmas Fund, to the Police Department, 1111 Ridgeway Ave., Signal Mountain, TN 37377.

As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, your police and fire officers join me in wishing you and yours a safe and happy Christmas season.
