Vietnam War Veteran Retired From TVA After 25 Years

Carlos Edward “Bill” Gregory, Jr., 70, of Soddy Daisy, died on Saturday, December 3, 2016

A resident of Soddy Daisy, Bill retired from TVA after 25 years of government service.  Bill was a former resident of Spring City, Knoxville, and Anderson County, Tn.  He was born in Knoxville, the son of Carlos Edward Gregory, Sr. and Clara Rebecca Grimstead Gregory and was raised in Knoxville and Anderson County, Tn.  He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and held a master’s degree from UTC. 

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam War and saw combat with the famed 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam, being honored with several decorations for his service.

He was a member of Burk’s United Methodist Church in Hixson.  He was a member and past master of Red Bank Masonic Lodge # 717 F & AM, member of Betsy Ross Chapter OES # 272, member and Past President of Chattanooga Chapter # 540 National Sojourners, member and Past Commander of Joe Foss Chapter of Heroes of 76, member and past president of Watts Bar Lodge # 2F of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a Past Chairman of the Chattanooga Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security.  He was a member of the Chattanooga Scottish Rite, Alhambra Shrine, Chevalier Commandery # 21 Knights Templar, Adoniram Council # 114 Cryptic Masons, Palmyra Chapter # 218 Royal Arch Masons, Chattanooga Chapter # 1945 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Spring City American Legion. 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia; daughter and son-in-law, Susanne C. and Brian Moseley; granddaughter, Mysty Moseley, all of Soddy Daisy; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Pat Gang; nephews, Charlie and Jimmy Gang, all of Knoxville.

The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, at the North Chapel.

A private burial for the family will be held at a later date at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Powell, Tn.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn.
