Berry To Review Local Economic Development Plans, Community Economic Health

  • Friday, December 2, 2016

Doug Berry, vice president for economic development, will speak at the quarterly “Food for Thought” membership luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 15, at noon at the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Berry will talk about progress on a variety of economic development projects, the general economic health of Cleveland and Bradley County, as well as development of the community's newest industrial park, Spring Branch.

"Since joining the Chamber of Commerce in 2009, Mr. Berry has focused on growing existing industry in Cleveland and Bradley County and in pursuing those projects that will enhance the employment opportunities for the citizens of our community.

"Successful projects in the seven years he has been with the Chamber of Commerce include 19 existing industry expansions and two new locations. Among the projects are Whirlpool Corporation, Duracell, and Mars Chocolate North America, along with projects at Olin Corporation, Lonza, and Polartec Tennessee Manufacturing. He was also the community’s lead contact on the Amazon project. These projects, and others, have translated to over $700 million in new capital investment and continue to place our community at the top of economic growth in our region," officials said.

The fourth-quarter “Food for Thought” Dutch-treat luncheon will take place in the Chamber’s conference center, with reservations required to facilitate room setup and food. Call the Chamber at 423-472-6587 to make your reservation or visit the events calendar on the Chamber’s website, www.clevelandchamber.com, by Tuesday, Dec. 13.
