Salvation Army Opens Cold-Weather Shelter And Has Many Volunteer Programs

  • Saturday, December 10, 2016

The Salvation Army will be opening a cold-weather shelter again Saturday evening. This will be the third night in a row and the eighth time for the season.

The Salvation Army also wraps up the 36 Hour Bike Drive at Gunbarrel Walmart at 6 p.m.  The goal was 500 bikes.

Volunteers packed over 1,000 food boxes at the Salvation Army warehouse Saturday morning for Angel tree families.

Volunteers are busy in the malls with the 12 days of giving program at the former locations of the Angel tree's. This gives folks an opportunity to still participate in giving for the holidays.

Beginning at 6 o'clock on Saturday is the downtown Santa Claus pub crawl. Though we don't organize this, the Salvation Army are the beneficiaries. Folks bring gifts for the angel tree program. They will be on hand accepting those gifts and ringing bells at each of the 10 locations.
