Mattie “Elizabeth” Nichols, 87, of Calhoun, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at her residence.
She was a member of Henegar Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife and very loving mother to her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Nichols; parents, George Jackson Blackwell and Olaree Clark Blackwell; son, Jonathan Kent Nichols; grandson, Nicholas Sean Hawkins; sisters, Mary Ruth Blackwell and Olline Sweeton; brothers, Johnny Floyd Blackwell and George Kenneth Blackwell; and son-in-law, Mickey Hawkins.
Survivors include her two children, Billy Nichols and Carol Nichols Hawkins, both of Calhoun; one granddaughter, Misty Senters and husband, Andy; three great-grandchildren, Mecalah Senters, Landon Senters and Brent Senters; one great-great-grandchild, Naelyi Mae Wheaton; two sisters, Glenda Watson of Riceville and Wanda Chrisman of Calhoun; and a very special friend, Helen Green of Calhoun.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Leamon officiating. The interment will follow in Calhoun Cemetery with Landon Senters, Brent Senters, Jim David, Ron Turner, Mark Edwards and Allen Dawson serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the funeral home.
