PETA And Humane Educational Society Offer Reward For Torture-Killing Of Dog After Envelope Mailed From Chattanooga

  • Wednesday, October 26, 2016

An envelope postmarked from Chattanooga and containing a photo of a dog strung between two trees arrived at PETA's office in Virginia Tuesday, along with the severed ear of a dog. PETA members are offering a reward of $5,000-and the Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga has added another $1,000-for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for what appears to be the torture-killing of this dog. A local community member reached out to the Humane Educational Society to add an additional $4,000 to the reward.

The photo depicts a light reddish-brown, medium-sized male dog with a white streak on his chest. The Humane Educational Society is working with PETA to bring the individual(s) responsible to justice.

"It should send chills down anyone's spine to imagine someone out there hanging, killing, and cutting body parts from a dog who could only have been terrified-and then bragging about it to an animal-protection charity," says PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien. "The whole community is at risk if a violent person who acts out in this way is not found and held responsible, and PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward."

According to leading mental-health professionals and law-enforcement agencies, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to the community at large. The Humane Educational Society and PETA are asking for anyone with information about this horrific act come forward so that the perpetrator can be brought to justice.
