Traffic Stop Leads To Discovery Of Drugs, Weapons, Stolen Truck

A traffic stop on McCallie Ferry Road on Friday led to the discovery of drugs, weapons and a stolen truck.

Derek Lee Hatfield, 31, of 8439 Cross Timbers Circle, Hixson, was charged with possession of meth, possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony, not having insurance, driving while in possession of drugs, two counts of theft of property, possessing a stolen firearm, possession of xanax for resale, possession of a controlled substance and a registration violation.

A deputy said Hatfield was not able to produce any documentation on the black GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The deputy took a .380 caliber Smith and Wesson pistol with laser that was in his waistband. It was loaded with six rounds and one in the chamber.

The deputy found a large amount of drugs in a black lock box along with $2,000 cash. The truck and cash were confiscated.
