Robert Glenn Gamble, 74, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home in the peaceful valley he so loved, with his wife Helen and one of his dedicated caregivers, Sonya Broome, at his side.
Robert was a farmer for 40-plus years. Farming was truly his calling; he loved the soil, trees, and the beauty of God’s creation to the depth of his soul. We are all better for having known Robert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gamble, Sr. and Betty Murphey Gamble; and sister, Betty Robinson.
Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Helen Pegues Gamble; mother-in-law, Celia Pegues of Albertville, AL; sisters-in-law, Patricia Pegues of Decatur, AL and Juanita Bright of Albertville, AL; brothers-in-law, Tommy Pegues of Albertville, AL and Jimmy Robinson of Chattanooga; cousin, Sara Bossong; and a host of adored nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of LaFayette Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cathy Meyer, Pastor Ken Waddell and Stacey Gray officiating. Interment to follow in LaFayette City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sonny Scoggins, Allen Scoggins, Guy Pope, Jerry Huggins, Mike Bunn, and Stacey Gray.
