The Humane Educational Society and McKamey Animal Center are partnering with the Humane Society of the United States to take in and care for homeless dogs displaced during Hurricane Matthew.
The shelters will receive 17 dogs in total which will be split between the two organizations.
Additionally, the Humane Educational Society will serve as a hub for other shelters in and around the area to pick up and transport over 25 cats and kittens displaced by the storm.
The Humane Society of the United States will arrive at the Humane Educational Society at 6 p.m. on Friday. Mckamey Animal Center and other receiving shelters will be on site to meet and receive those animals displaced by the storm.
Upon arrival the dogs will be given a medical exam and once cleared will be available for adoption through the Humane Educational Society and McKamey Animal Center.
