Dawson Chosen As The Coordinator Of Development And Alumni Relations

  • Thursday, October 20, 2016

Cindy Dawson was chosen as the coordinator of Development and Alumni Relations at Cleveland State Community College.

Prior to accepting her position at CSCC, Ms. Dawson had worked with non-profit organizations for over ten years.   She worked for The Next Door, where she served as the regional development coordinator for East Tennessee. She also served as the executive director for Global Women, another non-profit organization based out of Pelham, Al.

“We’re excited to have Cindy as the new coordinator of Development and Alumni Relations here at the college,” said Dr. Tommy Wright, vice president for Finance and Advancement. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge to this position, as well as being one of our alumni, so we are happy to have her back on campus and look forward to growing our alumni program and connecting with our donors.”

In this position, Ms. Dawson will be responsible for building an Alumni Relations program that regularly communicates with alumni and provides an opportunity for them to stay connected and support the college, and identifying and developing new and existing prospects to advance a culture of philanthropy at CSCC.

“We moved back to east Tennessee after quite a few years of living overseas, and I wanted to be back in this area to be close to my mom,” said Ms. Dawson. “CSCC is where I began my college education. Cleveland is my hometown, and I’m glad to be back. It is so fun to reconnect. I really think this is an opportunity to use my skills and experience in fundraising, but also in relationship building, and hopefully, I’ll be able to apply some of that with this alumni program. This is an exciting time for CSCC—celebrating 50 years, moving forward, the school is growing, and I have some strong goals, and I’m looking forward to working with the Foundation to help us reach those goals.”

Ms. Dawson is a graduate of the University of Mobile with a bachelor of science degree in religious education. She and her husband, Frank, have two daughters, Lindsay and Alesha, and one grandson, Oliver.
