Gamers in the Chattanooga region are helping sick and injured children at Children's Hospital at Erlanger with a Game Day opportunity on Saturday, Nov. 5. Extra Life, a fundraising program helping Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across North America, adds a life-saving purpose to playing video, board and lawn games.
Extra Life was created by Jeromy 'Doc' Adams in 2008 to honor the late Tori Enmon, a 15-year-old CMN Hospitals patient who played video games during her battle with acute Lymphoblast leukemia.
“Extra Life continues to grow because it answers a very simple question: How can I use my love of gaming to make life better for kids in my community?” said Mr. Adams. “The call to give back is connecting children’s hospital advocates across North America — from families to college students and everyone in between.”
Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million benefiting 170 CMN Hospitals across North America.
“Chattanooga gamers raised more than $8,000 during last year’s game day,” said Rebecca Brinkley, CMN Hospitals director for Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. “All funds raised through Extra Life by area gamers will stay local to support the Believe Campaign benefitting the new Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.”
Gamers can register for free at www.extra-life.org and select Children's Hospital at Erlanger. Once a fundraising account and goal is established, participants ask their friends and family to support their "game day" on Nov. 5.
