Margaret McClain Fulton, 89, of Summerville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016, in a Rome hospital.
She was born in Floyd County, GA on Jan. 8, 1927 to the late Herbert A. and Sarah Irvine McClain; and was also preceded in death by her husband, John Fulton, to whom she was married to for 50 years.
Mrs. Fulton graduated from Gore High School in 1944 and was valedictorian of her class. She was a member of the Summerville First United Methodist Church and was retired from the former Farmers & Merchants Bank (presently BB&T Bank). She was an active member of the community. She served as secretary/treasurer of the Summerville Cemetery Corporation and treasurer of the Chattooga County Historical Society for many years. She was a member of several organizations and loved to play cards on Thursdays.
Mrs. Fulton is survived by her two sons, Greg Fulton of Summerville and Robert Fulton of Spring Hope, NC; her daughter, Ruth Cordle of Pike Road, AL; her sister, Eugenia Smith of Americus, GA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Dr. Ed Judy officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Allan Fulton, Jonathan Fulton, Christopher Cordle, Steve Smith, Keith Register and Daniel Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be the Triangle Sunday School Class of Summerville First United Methodist Church.
The Family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 21 from 12-2 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
