Osment, Laurie "Sweet" (Cleveland)

Laurie “Sweet” Osment, 87, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday October 18, 2016.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1929 to the late George and Mary Minick. Sweet had been a resident of Cleveland since a very young age. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Sweet was also an avid bowler who held the highest average at the Village Lanes for a number of years. Above all things, she loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them more than anything in the world. 

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Osment; three brothers, Miles Minick, Eric Minick and Herbert Minick; and two sisters Tressie Jones and Georgia Phillips.

She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Carson (Danny), Barbara Smith (Roy) and Connie Dalton (Melvin); grandchildren, Matt Carson (Angie), Julie Turner (Bryan), Billy Smith (Kerry), Ellen Smith and Daniel Smith; great-grandchildren, Laurie Carson, Alex Carson and Stella Turner; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Sweet’s family would also like to thank her friends and the great staff at Garden Plaza of Cleveland for their care and friendship over the past nine years. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 20 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist located at 3405 Peerless Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37312 with Pastor Ramon Torres officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. service time. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
