Walter Layne
Walter Layne, Jr., 74, of Soddy Daisy, died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
He lived most of his life in the Rhea County, Hixson and Soddy-Daisy area. Walter was a member of Abba’s House. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Mueller Company after 20 years of service. Walter enjoyed rabbit hunting and was a big fan of Elvis Presley and the Tennessee Volunteers.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tenya Layne and parents, Walter, Sr. and Delia Smith Layne.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carol Burton Layne; daughters, Denise Hale and Mytra Layne; son, Walter Davis; sisters, Anna Sprankell, Marilyn Comer and Vickie Travis; brothers, Eddie Layne and Steve Layne; grandchildren, D.J., Elena and Trenyce Hale, Sean, Corey and Destiny Davis; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ronnie Phillips, Jr. and Rev. Steve Travis officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Drive Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
