A man identified by police as a validated member of the Bounty Hunter Bloods has been charged in connection with a shooting at a gas station on Shallowford Road on Oct. 9.

Derrick Donte McKinney, 25, of 909 W. 39th St., is charged with reckless endangerment, theft of property, possession of a weapon with intent to go armed, disorderly conduct and two counts of solicitation to commit aggravated assault.

In the incident at a Kangaroo Express in the 6000 block of Shallowford Road, officers found a .40 caliber shell casing in the parking lot.

Video from the store showed a Dodge Ram pull into the station that was closely followed by a gray Dodge Avenger.

When an investigator watched the store surveillance camera, he noticed a Dodge Ram pull into the gas station. He also noted in his report that a gray Dodge Avenger had closely followed the Dodge Ram. Three men got out of the Dodge Ram and approached the Avenger.

Police said the video showed McKinney opening the passenger door of the Avenger and confronting the driver. He then opened the rear passenger door and got into it with a passenger.

Police said the video shows McKinney fire a shot into the car before returning to the Dodge Ram with the other two men. He is seen placing the gun back into the Dodge Ram before leaving on foot.

A shooting victim has not come forward.

McKinney has a lengthy criminal record.
