Joyce Loretta Rutledge Crisp, 74, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born in Knoxville, TN on Oct. 13, 1940. She was a long time member of Candies Creek Baptist Church. Joyce had a great love of drawing and painting. She was also a gifted and talented decorator who enjoyed decorating the homes her husband built for sale as well as their own homes. Joyce loved her family so very much and enjoyed spending time with all of them. She adored her title of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father and mother, Walt & Lorene Rutledge; her grandmother who raised her, Sarah Johnson; and three sisters, Jean Cawood, Barbara Carroll and Melba Wiseman.
Joyce is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Gene Crisp; two sons and their wives, Larry & Nancy Crisp of Decatur, TN and Rusty & Sherri Crisp of Knoxville, TN; one daughter and son-in-law, Tanya & Scott Singleton of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Matt & Caroline Crisp of Riceville, TN, Clint Crisp of Decatur, TN, Katie & Kevin Edwards of Niota, TN, Rachel Crisp and Sarah Crisp both of Knoxville, TN and Corey Singleton and Chelsea Singleton both of Winchester, VA; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Levi Singleton of Winchester, VA and Levi Michael Edwards of Niota, TN; numerous other extended family members; and host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Candies Creek Baptist Church located at 294 Old Eureka Road in Charleston, TN with Pastor Jamie Works officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Garden with Matt Crisp, Clint Crisp, Kevin Edwards, Randy Bishop, Bill Crisp and Dale Cawood serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 4 at the church from 6-9 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Sept. 5.
