Gladys Suttles Clark, 77, died at her home on September 4, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. 

She was born in McDonough, Ga., and moved to Chattanooga in the 1950s.

Gladys spent over 50 years doing private home work for many families and retired in 2013. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special love for flowers and working in her flower garden.  Many called her the “lady with the green thumb”. She could grow anything. She also loved collecting antiques and interesting pieces of history. 

She joined Sharon Pentecostal Deliverance COG in the early 1990s under the leadership of Pastor JoAnne Walker, where she was on the Mother Board, Usher Board and the choir.  She was a faithful and supportive member for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Virginia Amie; siblings, Joann and Wilson Amie.

She is survived by her husband, Willie B. Clark; daughters, Angela (Brian) Weddington and Lisa (Horace) Bledsoe; grandchildren, Gregory (Margaret) Pitmon, Travelle (Shaina) Pitmon and Jalesa and Markita Madden and Horace Bledsoe, III; great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Jayden Elder, Karson, Greg, Naurice, Tyree and Arterian Pitmon; sisters, Ruth (James) Henderson, Lela (Eddie) Tucker of Chattanooga, TN; Linda Amie of Riverdale, GA; brothers, Early (Diane) Amie, Gerald (Susan) Amie, Roosevelt Amie, Jr., all of Atlanta, GA; Tom (Dorothy) Amie of McDonough, GA; a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Sharon Pentecostal Deliverance COG Church, located at 1400 E. 48th Street with Pastor JoAnne Walker officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be on Monday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery.
