  • Thursday, September 3, 2015
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team kicks off an extended road swing this weekend with a Friday night matchup with Lipscomb followed by a Sunday afternoon tilt at Alabama A&M.

“Lipscomb is a very good program,” Chattanooga head coach Gavin McKinney said. “They have had a strong start to the year. We need to be organized and ready to compete.”

Lipscomb has started the season on a five-game unbeaten streak at 3-0-2. The Bison opened the year with a 0-0 double overtime tie at Tennessee followed by a 2-0 home victory over Ball State.
Over the next three matches, Lipscomb went to a scoreless draw against Cincinnati, a 3-0 win over Jacksonville State and a 9-0 shutout of Alabama A&M on the road.

Nine Bison players have combined for 14 goals with Maycie McKay booting in a team-high three. Elizabeth Ashwood, Alesondra Colbert and Caroline Chadwell have two goals each while Natalie DuBoise and Lyndie Donegan lead the team with two assists each. Keeper Anna Buhigas has played all 490 minutes in goal with 26 saves.

Lipscomb has 14 goals on 78 shots and a 55.1 shots on goal percentage (43-of-78). The Bison average 2.8 goals and 15.6 shots per game. Ten of Lipscomb’s goals came in the first half on 37 shots.

“We drew last year with Alabama A&M,” McKinney said. “This will be another game to improve and learn about ourselves as we head toward the conference schedule.”

The Bulldogs are 0-2-0 on the year and will face UNC Asheville on the road Friday evening. Alabama A&M has given up 21 goals in two matches, falling 12-0 at Kennesaw State in the season-opener.

Chattanooga is 0-3-0 on the year with home losses to Austin Peay (2OT, 0-1) and Elon (0-2) and a 1-0 loss at Kennesaw State. The Mocs have held opponents scoreless in the opening 45 minutes, but have yet to find the net.

Junior transfer Katie Emig (Knoxville, Tenn.) has played every minute in goal for the Mocs. She has made nine saves with a season-high five at Kennesaw State and has a 1.28 goals against average and a .692 saves percentage.

Kick off Friday night against Lipscomb will be at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Live stats will be available on the women’s soccer schedule page at GoMocs.com and Gameday Central. Sunday’s match kicks at 4 p.m. Eastern time.
