Bettye Huskins Cotter, 87, died on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born to Betty Cates and John Huskins on July 8, 1928. Bettye graduated from Chattanooga High School in 1946 and attended the University of Chattanooga. Bettye married Hugh Cotter in 1948. They were married over 63 years and raised their five children in Chattanooga.

Bettye loved to play bridge and golf. She was a member of the Brainerd Women’s Golf Association, as well as the Chattanooga Women’s Association. She was a charter member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. She retired from CBL and Associates after 22 years of service.

In addition to her parents, Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, her step-father, Mitchell Wallace and three infants.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Butch) Gross; sons, Michael (Mary Jane), Joseph (Pamela), Steven, and Brian Cotter; grandchildren Alexandra, Tyler, Mary, Mitchell, and Nataleigh Cotter.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, with the Reverend Manuel Perez officiating. Interment will follow in Mt Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers include Alan Cates, John Foy, Hank Dotson, Mark Keylon, Mitchell and Tyler Cotter.

The family would like to express their thanks to Marianne Clabattone, Dr. Galina  Rader and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for all their care.
