Life Care Centers of America announced its annual "Whatever It Takes And Then Some" award winners for customer service on Aug. 26.

Each year, an award is given to one associate from each of Life Care’s divisions. Executives present each winner with a $1,000 cash prize and share the stories behind their acts of exceptional caring. Winners are honored during a session of Life Care’s Annual Management Meeting at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee.

“Customer service is Life Care’s reason for being,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president.
“Our company is blessed with associates who view their work as a life’s calling, and they are extraordinary practitioners of a heartfelt commitment to always act in the best interest of our residents. The eight individuals we are honoring this year with our Whatever It Takes And Then Some awards represent thousands of others like them. I am always inspired and humbled to be in their presence and see and sense their devotion to serving people.”

The winners were:

• Bethany Sattovia, speech therapist at The Westchester House in Chesterfield, Mo., for the Central Division, who taught a patient to read.

• Crystal Akin, central supply director at Life Care Center of Rhea County in Dayton, Tn., for the Eastern Division, who helped a resident who lost family members in an accident be able to attend the funeral.

• Troy Floyd, floor tech at Wooldridge Place Nursing Center in Corpus Christi, Tx., for the Gulf States Region, who developed a meaningful friendship with a resident who was passing away.

• Sally McMullen, licensed practical nurse at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan, Co., for the Mountain States Division, who makes viewing Denver Broncos games into interactive parties for residents, complete with snacks.

• Amy Pumford, a certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Plainwell, Mi., for the Northeast Division, who postponed her own Thanksgiving dinner to take a resident to her family’s house and assist during their holiday celebration.

• Christine Johnson, licensed practical nurse at Life Care Center of Idaho Falls, Id., for the Northwest Division, who took a resident to a Martina McBride concert.

• Mary Tabacco, rehab aide at Life Care Center of Palm Bay, Fl., for the Southeast Division, who took a resident who was a former mayor out to a business networking event, where he enjoyed taking part in community life.

• Marilyn Dorn, a housekeeper at Payson Care Center in Payson, Az., for the Southwest Division, who provided a cake, card and live music for a couple celebrating their anniversary.

Life Care Centers of America’s "Whatever It Takes And Then Some program rewards associates for their extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.
