The 28th annual Taster's Luncheon will be Sept. 12

The 28th Annual Taster’s Luncheon will be held on Sept. 12 and for a $15 donation, guests can enjoy a “taste” of dishes specially prepared by Alpha Beta ESA members just for this event.  Hors d’oeuvres, salads and desserts are the hallmark of this annual event that benefits the Walter E. Boehm Birth Defect Center.

Held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 7111 Lee Hwy., the day begins when doors open for the Chinese Auction starting at 10 a.m.  Auction tickets are 20 for $5. Valued at $25-$50 each, auction items are donated, so 100 percent of ticket sales go to Boehm Birth Defect Center. This year, auction gift cards from businesses include Carraba’s, Bonefish, PF Chang’s, Fresh Market, Southern Roots, Shuffords, Famous Dave’s, Hair Lines, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. In addition, there will be wine from Hamilton Liquor, a Tennessee Vol print, a scratch-off tree, hipster bag, jewelry, Coca-Cola ornaments from Market Link, a block Christmas tree, and hair care products from Suite 25 Salon. More items are being added each day.

The luncheon officially begins at 11:30 a.m.  After guests have been through the serving lines, emcee Jed Mescon will introduce a Boehm Center patient so that guests can learn what the event is all about and then introduce this year’s models who will wear the latest fall fashions from the Dress Barn, the 2015 sponsor.

Only those attendees who have bought their ticket in advance and have it in hand at the door are eligible to win the $100 cash drawing – one winner will be drawn at the event. Bidding auction items include an overnight stay at Hampton Inn, four framed pictures, and an arrangement by the Barn Nursery.

Kohl’s Cares for Kids provide assistance at the event. Tickets are $15 for the luncheon/fashion show. Call 266-5215 or 778-2222.
