East Ridge Police said a man fired four shots at a couple in another vehicle during a pursuit down Ringgold Road.

Jonathan Chad Grant, of Cohutta, Ga., is charged with domestic aggravated assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony vandalism, two counts of vandalism and theft of property.

Police were dispatched to the 5400 block of Ringgold Road, near Prigmore Rd, in reference to a rolling disorder.

Hamilton County Dispatch advised that the complainant, Ashton Brooke Faul, called 911 to report that she and Anthony Eugene Harvey were being followed by a man with a gun, later identified as Jonathan Chad Grant, driving a white truck.

Dispatch advised that the vehicles were traveling westbound on Ringgold Road toward the Food Lion.  Police in the area heard gunshots from the area of the Food Lion.

Upon police arrival, the victims advised the suspect in the white truck fired several gunshots at them.  The victims said they had stopped at 1406 N. Smith St. to pick up Ms. Faul's car. Upon arriving at the location, the victims observed the defendant's truck parked near the residence. The victims stated that they attempted to flee the area to avoid any confrontation with the defendant due to recent harassment from him.

They said Grant started following them as they traveled westbound on Ringgold Road. They said he tried to ram his truck into the back of Harvey's gray Challenger. Ms. Faul stated that she then contacted 911.

The couple said they turned into the parking lot of the Food Lion attempting to stop the suspect from following them. They said as they were exiting the parking lot, Grant pulled up behind them and fired several shots at them. He then exited the parking lot and proceeded southbound on McBrien Road.

Police spoke with two witnesses in the Food Lion parking lot, who stated that they observed the man in the white truck speeding away after firing shots at the gray car. Police located four spent .40 caliber shell casings in the street next to the Rite Aid parking lot.

Police located the truck traveling southbound on McBrien Road. Police performed a traffic stop on the white pickup truck at 2149 Dugan St and detained Grant.

Upon searching the vehicle, police located a small, glass pipe with a powdery residue substance inside it and a black holster with a loaded magazine containing 11 unused rounds of ammunition. Police also located a loaded, ready to fire, black and silver Smith & Wesson .40 cal handgun approximately 50 yards away from where police stopped the suspect.

The firearm was found to have a magazine missing four out of 13 rounds.
