The Real Intent Of The 14th Amendment

  • Monday, August 31, 2015

While the SCOTUS may have determined that anchor babies and their parents are subject to jurisdiction of the United States, they missed the intent of the 14th Amendment all together.

All one really needs to do is look at the 13th, 14th, and 15th to reach the conclusion that the 14th was intended to secure citizenship and to provide equal protection under the law for freed slaves and their children. Is it by coincidence that birthright citizenship is placed between the amendment that abolishes slavery and the amendment that prohibits voter discrimination based on race, color or previous condition of servitude? Of course not.  The logical order of events would be to free slaves, provide for their citizenship then guarantee their right to vote. The intent of the 14th is crystal clear.
