Arnold, Irene Barger

Irene Barger Arnold, 95, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015.

She was an avid tournament badminton player with her brother, Warren Barger, and sister-in-law, Alta Barger and others at Red Bank Baptist.  At 91, she was in the Senior Olympics with both younger brothers (89 and 85).  She lived life to the fullest, swimming up to a mile a day, trying scuba diving at 69 and going on a camel ride at 90.

There is no parade for their coming or their going, but occasionally someone exceptional comes into this world.  Mother gave us the gift of her lifelong curiosity about new places and experiences, her laughter and her joy in life.  She will be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Janice Wiedeke, Cheryl Arnold and Cathey Arnold; a son-in-law, Don Van Pernis; and two brothers, Warren Barger and Joe Barger and their families.

Lane Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
