Chapman Drug Retiree Loved To Sing Gospel Music

Delila Yow Jeffress, 81, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, August 2, 2015. 

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, she was retired from Chapman Drug Co. and a member of East Lake Church of God. Mrs. Jeffress loved to sing gospel music in church and also on her fathers radio broadcast. 

She was the daughter of the late Rev. Dewey and Mary Ella Yow; and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Johnson; sisters, Chalma Hamilton, Cleta Mae Brooks and Vernell Macon; and brother, Bernard Lee Yow. 

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Thomas F. Jeffress Sr; daughter, Darlene Shirley, Ooltewah; son, Thomas F. Jeffress Jr., Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Mark Hastings, Paul Dickson, Jennifer Petty, Joe Brown and T.J. Jeffress; six great-grandchildren, Brayden, Dylan, Austin, Brody, Aleea and Kilyn; and several nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held Thursday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ty Parker officiating. A private family burial will be at Lakewood, East.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Aug. 5 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 6 after 10 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road, who has charge of the arrangements.
