Sheriff Eric Watson announced since July 20, over 100 people have signed up for 2-day Handgun Carry classes offered by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
The classes consist of Friday evening classroom work, while Saturday is at the gun range. Two of the three classes, in August and October, have reached the limit of 50 participants each, while another class, in September, added due to popular demand, as of July 31, has 10 people registered and is expected to fill up soon.
Sheriff Watson said, “We always have a strong interest and attendance at our Handgun Carry classes; however, since the events of July 16 in Chattanooga, we receive numerous calls each day inquiring about them. So much so, we have added the September class.”
The Handgun Carry classroom portion is free at the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, while there is a $5 fee to use the private range on Leadmine Valley Road.
To inquire about the upcoming September Handgun Carry class, contact Carol Edwards with the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office at 423-728-7316.
“We are happy to offer these classes that allow our citizens to safely and legally carry a handgun for protection. Those folks that complete the classroom and range activities successfully will learn about the laws that cover handgun carrying, and how to safely do so,” Sheriff Watson said.
