Terry Vandergriff Sought After Leading Deputies On High-Speed Chase

  • Monday, August 3, 2015

The Sheriff's Office is looking for Terry Vandergriff after he led deputies on a high-speed chase on Sunday night, then got away after wrecking into some woods.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies initiated a traffic stop on a black SUV at the 1700 block of Highway 27 southbound for driving with a revoked Tennessee driver’s license.

The driver of the vehicle was positively identified as Terry Vandergriff. Deputies failed to get him to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued reaching speeds of upwards 100 miles per hour.

Deputies continued to chase Vandergriff on Highway 27 where he exited at the Mountain Creek Road exit and continued to proceed to Browntown Road into Red Bank.  At this time, Red Bank Police joined in the pursuit and spike strips were deployed, but missed.

The vehicle continued north, ultimately coming to a stop in the woods at 9893 Lovell Road, where the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot and eluded capture.

A passenger in the vehicle, Rebecca Ward, was taken into custody for outstanding warrants.

Warrants were obtained for Vandergriff for felony evasion, driving on a revoked license, and drug paraphernalia.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Vandergriff. If you have any information as to his location, please call 423-622-0022.
