The Gordon Lee Trojans already had a game under their belts this season, and it could have been a big difference maker. A season opening loss to Trion last week gave the Trojans some incentive to not be 0-2 when Saturday morning rolled around. They scored an impressive 41-13 win at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on Friday night at Tommy Cash Stadium.

The Trojans took the opening kick and marched 72 yards in 9 plays as Drew Cobb scored on an 18 yard romp. That put the Trojans up 7-0 with 7:25 left in the opening quarter. After the Warriors went quietly on a three and out series, Gordon Lee struck again as Cobb hit pay-dirt from 4 yards out capping a 63 yard drive in just six plays as the Trojans led 14-0 after the first quarter. LFO managed to move the football on the next Warrior possession as junior quarterback Noah Flowers led a march deep into Trojan territory, only to be intercepted by Sean Cokely ending the LFO threat.

Gordon Lee increased the lead to 21-0 late in the middle of the second quarter as Andrew Towns scored on a 15 yard romp. The touchdown was aided by a 15 yard personal foul penalty by LFO as well as a 38 yard pass play from senior quarterback Caleb O'Neal to receiver Sean Cokely.

The Warriors finally got on the scoreboard late in the second quarter as Flowers hit receiver Douglas Hager on a three yard TD pass, making it 21-7 with 1:14 left in the half. An ill-advised short kick gave the Trojans a short field to work with and Gordon lee promptly drove 38 yards in just three plays to take a commanding 28-7 lead at halftime.  Andrew Towns scored his second touchdown of the game on a six yard scamper as Gordon Lee was in complete control.

The second half was more of the same even though the Warriors refused to fade away into the north Georgia night. They went three and out to start the second half, but a short punt came down and struck a Trojan player and the Warriors recovered at the Trojan 40 yard line. LFO drove deep into Gordon Lee territory before missing a Charles Davis field goal attempt. When Gordon Lee got the ball back, they drove 80 yards in just 8 plays to go up 35-7 with 4:11 left in the third quarter. The Trojans went on to score a 41-13 win, evening their record at 1-1 on the year.
The loss at home also put a bit of a damper on LFO Coach Bo Campbell's debut. There was never a mercy rule going into effect, but with 3:11 left in the game, a power outage put everyone in the dark at Tommy Cash Stadium, ending the game a bit prematurely.

Gordon Lee totally dominated the game as they had 17 first downs to just 12 for LFO. They out-gained the Warriors on the ground with 327 yards on 37 carries. Quarterback Caleb O'Neal rushed for 120 yards on just 12 carries, while Andrew Towns added 99 yards on 16 carries.

In other North Georgia action it was:

Murray County 35, SE Whitfield 21

Calhoun 28 Dalton 7

Ringgold 36 Heritage 34
