Columbia, Ky. – The Dalton State volleyball team (1-1) knocked off Cumberland University (Tn.) Saturday in the Roadrunners’ second match of the 16-team Lindsey Wilson Classic.
Michala Askew had 35 assists and 15 digs in the match. Marta Guntin had 13 kills and 14 digs. Anna Metzler had 11 kills and 21 digs. Kianna Delaney tallied eight kills and nine digs.
Dalton State had lost the close set in a close one, 25-23 and won the final set, 27-25.
In between, a couple of easier sets at 25-15 and 25-10.
Coach Bruna Langer saw a lot of good and bad in the match. “A victory is always a victory so I’ll take it,” she said.
The Roadrunners have two games on Saturday in the 16-team Lindsey Wilson Classic. They battle Indiana University Kokomo at 2 p.m. CT and Indiana University Southeast at 4 p.m. CT.
“The teams we play Saturday will be better,” said Langner. “Hopefully we’ll step up and play harder.”
