Phyllis Goldstein Bell, 79, of Chattanooga died on Thursday, August 27, 2015  in a local health care center after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A graduate of City High School, Phyllis also attended The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. After college Phyllis greatly enjoyed a life-long career in retail sales which continued non-stop for over 60 years.

She began by selling shoes at The Leader Department Store in downtown Chattanooga. She then worked for herself many years as she owned and operated Bernie's Shoe Box and Anxiously Awaiting Maternity Fashions in Chattanooga.  She continued her sales career with Belk's Department Store for several years until the store at Hamilton Place Mall became Dillard's Department Store. While in the men's department, Phyllis became a top sales producer of Dillard's for many years until her retirement in 2014. She was loved greatly by her co-workers and her many loyal customers. Phyllis was a member of Mizpah Congregation and a lifetime member of Hadassah.

She was the daughter of the late Abel and Ruth Goldstein and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Bell and brother, Larry Goldstein.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Paula) Bell and Keith Bell; brothers, Ival (Doris) Goldstein and Herb (Marilyn) Goldstein; sister, Rosalyn Goldstein (Stan) Vogel; grandchildren, Hilary and Emily Bell. The always smiling and happy Phyllis Bell is also survived by many wonderful friends for whom the family is very grateful for their love and support.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their support and assistance.
