County deputies on Monday night chased a green Toyota SUV that refused to stop. The pursuit ended in Catoosa County when officers decided to back off for safety reasons.
At approximately 8:11 p.m., sheriff deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a registration violation on I-75 South at the five-mile marker near Shallowford Road.
The vehicle, occupied by a male and female, refused to stop and HCSO deputies initiated a pursuit.
Upon approach of the Georgia line, HCSO deputies contacted the Georgia State Patrol for assistance in hopes of deploying road spikes ahead of the vehicle in order to stop the vehicle in question. Before deputies were able to deploy road spikes or reach the Georgia State Patrol, the vehicle exited I-75 South at exit 345 at which time it then proceeded to Highway 41 North.
At this time, HCSO deputies called off the pursuit due to increased traffic conditions.
Once crossing into Georgia, HCSO deputies were aided by Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office personnel who also assisted with the pursuit.
The vehicle has Tennessee registration and tag number 943YJJ. Surrounding Georgia law enforcement agencies have been given the vehicle make and pertinent information.
