Chattanooga Practice Is Among The First To Offer New Treatment For Double Chin

  • Monday, July 27, 2015
Plastic surgery practice, Associates in Plastic Surgery, is the first practice in Chattanooga and one of the first practices in the Southeast to offer Kythera’s new, nonsurgical double chin treatment Kybella, according to officials.

“This is a revolutionary non-surgical, face-contouring treatment for improving patients chin profile,” said Dr. Christopher Chase. “Our patients have been asking for a treatment like this for years, and I am so excited to be among the first physicians to offer Kybella.”

Kybella received U.S.
Food and Drug Administration approval in April for the reduction of submental fat under the chin, and Associates in Plastic Surgery was one of the few practices to receive the required training to treat patients in the Chattanooga region and the Southeast US.

“Kybella treatments require precision and acute knowledge of facial anatomy as well as understanding of where to best place the injection for optimal results,” Dr. Chase said. “For these reasons, patients should ensure they are trusting their face with a board-certified plastic surgeon for all surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures.”

Previously, chin fat reduction and contouring was primarily done through liposuction, a surgical procedure which uses a small cannula to physically extract fat from the target area. Kybella is the first FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment to help reduce the appearance of a double chin. The treatment uses deoxycholic acid injections to destroy submental fat cells allowing the body to naturally eliminate them and thus reducing chin fat.

"Many people suffer from a double chin that remains, even after weight loss. This double chin can cause men and women to appear older and heavier than they actually are. Kybella can help to reduce fat under the chin through a simple series of injections, making it an attractive option for men and women. It is important to note that Kybella is only for reduction of submental fat - if a patient wants to get rid of loose, sagging skin under the chin, a skin tightening procedure would be indicated," officials said.

Associates in Plastic Surgery is located on Navajo Drive at the foot of Missionary Ridge, where board certified plastic surgeons provide Kybella and many more non-surgical and surgical procedures.
